Clinical Neurology


Clinical Neurology is the diagnosis and treatment of those who have been diagnosed with neurological conditions. Neurology is a branch of medicine that is mainly focused on the nervous system. A few of the issues that may be addressed in clinical neurology are brain damage, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, infections of the spine and brain, some forms of paralysis, chronic headaches or migraines, and seizure disorders. Neurology deals with diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems including their coverings, blood vessels, and effector tissue such as muscles. Clinical Neurology physicians are called upon to manage, diagnose, and treat these issues.

Clinical Neurology is a specialty. Doctors in this field have to complete four years of medical school followed by completing a four year residency. Neurologist generally complete 10-13 years of study and clinical training in this field. The neurologist is the physician that investigates and diagnosis the issue while the neurosurgeon is the one who performs the surgery.
